About the Cabo Rico 42 Sailboat

The Cabo Rico 42 is a heavy-displacement offshore cruiser designed by Chuck Paine, introduced in 2000 as a stretched development of the Cabo Rico 40. Paine drew a New England–influenced hull with a long modified keel and balanced skeg-hung rudder, emphasizing seakeeping over speed — the displacement-to-length ratio of 365 places it firmly in the expedition-cruiser category. The cutter rig carries nearly 910 square feet of working canvas and the boat was also offered in a pilothouse variant (Cabo Rico 42 Pilothouse) with a raised deck saloon. Build quality follows the Cabo Rico tradition of hand-laid fiberglass, teak-finished interiors, and offshore-grade hardware throughout. The 42 was one of the last models produced before Cabo Rico ceased production in the late 2000s.
